    Exclamation Tutorial Testing

    Hello Nomads!

New update is almost finished and we would like to test new tutorial on more people We made a new beta branch on steam so if you want to test it here is how you do it :

Right click on Planet Nomads in your Steam library -> Properties -> BETAS -> paste this code dKZ6XVHXRpWP and click on CHECK CODE

    prop.PNG code.PNG

Then start Planet Nomads, make sure you have Tutorial enabled in options and simply start a new survival game.

You can post your feedback and bug reports here.

PS. Voice over is not finished and will be changed to match old suit voice

    Thank You!

    Goose;

Just finished initial testing of the new tutorials. Just a few things and a few questions:

    1. It would probably be helpful to mention the Stamina and Power Charge rings in the HUD for new players during the initial segment of the tutorial. They're not particularly hard to figure out, but I can certainly see new players a bit confused as to why they suddenly stopped mining or why they suddenly stopped being able to run.

    2. Terrain Deformation should also be mentioned, and at this stage even cautioned, as we don't really have a way to fix holes in the ground we didn't mean to create. It is also a rather important feature of the game, being able to dig not just ore veins, but tunnels, caverns, digging up buried blocks, digging for water, etc.

    3. During the launch of the escape pod, the last thing I heard was part of the word "Caution" before cutting to the escape pod sequence. It might have been nice to hear all of the message, even if it were just a general, repeating warning.

    4. I actually like the voice a bit better. It might be a very cool feature to give us some voice options in the Game Settings. Perhaps a Male/Female and Synthetic/Natural set of options would be enough. I'd call the current Tutorial Beta voice "Female" and "Natural" and the voice we're more accustomed to "Female" and "Synthetic".

    5. Painting/Coloring - Again, this is something we're all pretty much use to, but new players picking up Planet Nomads for the first time are likely to miss this option. It would be great to mention it during the "Build your first block" tutorial segment after we crash land.

    Now for the comments/questions:

    1. WOW! Who designed the ship? That's exceptional! Love the little target markers for things to cut, where to go and what to access. Hopefully these will make a reappearance in the game as part of the mission/quest system.

    2. The flashing light beams - will we be able to construct these as well? Will we be able to add the color-change effect as well? I could see countless applications for this - power sources low on fuel, creatures within a perimeter of a base and so on. Same with the alarm sound - this would also make for a great addition to our bases - a transmitter block to send audio to our suits.

    3. Indestructibility - I noticed the ship's component parts could not be disassembled with the multi-tool. Can we have this as a toggle option for our own constructions? I know I've lost track of the number of times I've accidentally shot a hole in something I've build or damaged a block I've placed (especially in Creative Mode). Being able to toggle this would be GREAT.

    4. Probably a good bit far-reaching at this point, but has any consideration been given to adding additional voice acting, Specifically, to the Journal - the Journal entries we find, the creatures we learn about, all of this would benefit from a little voice work and feel much more "high-tech".

    Overall, outstanding work!

    • At the state when the battery must be reloaded, I was thinking how to focus the user to the battery state. 0 could be shown with red. Other numbers with orange (if close to 0)
    • When I was injured, instead of going to the Medical bay, I inspected the vehicles. An alarm started. I saved and loaded and the alarm was not active anymore. I loaded again later. The alarm started and I noticed that is interrupted by my footsteps or jetpack sound, as if it cannot use the same sound channel at the same time with the other sounds. Sometime the alarm was stopping for no reason while I was near those windows looking at the planet.
    • I tried to press I on the keyboard near the bandages, as instructed, but it was not working A small Microsoft Bluetooth keyboard on that ship?
    • Leave the connection mode by pressing (Alt fire mode) works with ESC, TAB and Holster too. I use Holster which is mapped to RBM.
    • During the first vehicle drive, the alarm started again. On the stairs down, 5m from the workstation, the alarm was alternating with some background sound in a choppy way.
    • While I was printing components near the workstation, the story said something and the window was closed before I was able to read it carefully. Maybe you can extend the time that window stays open. Or put the messages into the Journal too or some log. I saved and loaded to stop the alarm sound.
    • Before the need to enter into the drop pod to go down to the planet, there was no alarm sound I guess. I need to check again.
    • On the planet, the tutorial was keeping the window open with the hint to go collect resources from rocks with metallic veins. Some goddilos were nearby There should be a hint to avoid fight with those creatures at all cost in the beginning and to go back into the drop pod if needed. Show a picture of them in the hint maybe.

    @Indigo
The flashing light beams you can make by placing the power supply on a rotating thing, which moves the generator away and again into the range, breaking and restoring the power this way.

    • If by any chance, a new player will make a save in the tutorial phase, but not on the planet, he may try to load that save.

Then, interesting things happen. There is no oxygen there anymore and he may not be able to complete the tutorial.
If I would manage to start one more drop pod, I would be sent where? Same spot?

    • Also by leaving to main menu, the only autosave made on the planet will be overwritten.

Maybe if he dies, he would be teleported back to the drop pod, if he still have it. Else he may appear on the other side of the planet...

    • I checked all 10 000 active stasis chambers. They are all fine. Except one which has bored to death.

Ship looks amazing! Just wow! (but little laggy for me)

At this moment, I found lnly one bug, not sure how it's caused.

    - My suit battery not refueled until I used save/load. Before "energy crysis" I used jetpack.

Tutorial went pretty slickly for me. Few points of note though.

    1) When it forces you to get in the escape pod, it is telling you 'to continue mission, get in escape pod' ... which seemed odd. I would prefer something more like 'Losing atmosphere, remaining onboard ship not conducive to continuation of life. Please board an escape pod. Survival chance onboard ship...zero. Survival chance on planet...unknown'

You want the player to go...but the current text implies you know what's coming.

    2) When you get to the planet and it tells you to eat/drink ... it says you can do it via the hotbar or directly from the inventory. The hotbar has been shown...but how do you eat/drink direct from the inventory? It doesn't say.

    Other than that...it's all good.

Might be an idea to add an intro script...just some text maybe....saying where you are, what you were doing, and then...into the 'woken from stasis into a crisis'

I am unable to even test the tutorial, it says the access key is invalid (I copied and pasted so it was correct) but it only shows in the beta tab that there are no current betas to opt into

If there are no betas in the beta drop down (I missed the drop down first time) it may no longer be available, but fear not, the tutorial is now part of .9.whatever is the current version so you can still experience it.

And I still like the Joy voice a bit better than the “normal” suit voice. It’s easier to understand.

Only reason i posted this is because i had made a new game save and the tutorial didn't load in immediately. Checked on here and followed the instructions and still no tutorial. I really wanted to check out the new one w/ the space ship but seems like its just gone unless you already had it from 2 days ago

If you played before the game, you might have disabled the tutorial from the option menu, as it gets annoying after a while.
You have to enable it again.

    The tutorial is great,
I just started playing this game and can see it turning into something on par with subnautica, or even better in some cases.

With the vehicle section of the tutorial on the ship, i feel there isn't enough context as to why you need to use it,
i'd like it if there was an environmental hazard in-between two sections of the ship and you need to use it for protection,
    this teaches two things,
    1. how to drive a vehicle
    2. its a good source of environmental hazard protection.
