    tedious wreck exploration

How many wrecks are out there? It is becoming a bit tedious and repetitive to go through all of them. The radar uncovers only a small part of the map and every time I managed to explore one a few others are detected.

I am in medium difficulty, I do not know how large the world is.

    Hello, Krookward

I donít know if there is a set number but they need do lot of wrecks to cover all the pages of survivor stories.
They will be adding more verity to the wrench soon, currently they are setting it up so 70 of the kickstarters can design wrecks to be placed in the game.

Your difficulty and planet size should not make a difference.

I have found some areas on a planet have a good amount, and others of no wrecks.

    Thanks for your answer.

If there is going to be even more... I will be alternating with other activities, I do not want to get burned.

One way I've found to make wreck exploration less tedious is whenever you find a wreck that is a building (or the start of a building), find a reason to turn it into an emergency base (i.e. nearby minerals/ores, uranium fuel production, deuterium production).

Each of these new bases would have, at a minimum, a 3d printer and a stasis chamber in addition to the production facility. I also put a small container near the doors with a small amount of food, water, batteries & sleeping bags. If you want to go crazy, you could also put a set of Mk4 suit, backpack and multi-tool as well!

If there is a journal entry at the wreck that contains a crew member's name, I use that name in my base name as a memorial to my missing comrades. Otherwise I give it a name based on something else in the lore, the area, etc.

I've enjoyed doing this because the location of the wrecks often challenges my building creativity (i.e. a wreck which appears on a nearly vertical hillside) and forces me to build things in ways that I wouldn't otherwise.

Eventually, when I've explored all the wrecks and mapped the entire planet, my avatar will have a "tragic accident" and I'll revive in in a new drop pod location and use the emergency bases to accelerate the building of a new home base!

That's an amazing and crazy idea, I am not sure I could do that with every wreck, there are simply too many.

    Thanks for the idea.

It's more of a late game strategy -- you have to have a well-established, well-stocked base to create a small container (or two) of each building supply as well as a fast flyer with sufficient storage to carry it all. I also add containers full of raw ore of each type to print those things that I run out of and can't create with the resources available at the emergency base. Once you've created each emergency base, use the 3d printer there to restock your supplies and the production facility to restock your resources - it can take multiple (sometimes many) sleep cycles in the stasis chamber but you'll always be mostly or fully stocked and ready for the next one!

    Happy Nomading!

You can get creative with wrecks.

For example; here is some of the things that I have done.

(using a large tank form a wreck)

(it does not work, but a jet-engine from a wreck can be used)

I didn't realise you could pick the stuff up and use it!
    How do you do that?!?

Trees/plants, rocks, crystals, and presents will move, but disappear on sleep and/or reload.
Wrecks and Alien wrecks can be moved, after being freed from the dirt.
Monument towers are pointless to move, they stay radioactive, and the compass point does not move.
The teleport can move out of radiation range, but more than 3-4k away it will stop working until back in range.
It is a fun puzzle figuring how, so I’ll just say have fun!

    Great screenshots, Viking!
We joked in one thread about moving goddilo nests around.
I know now not to try

The number of wrecks depends on planet size. Small planet has about 100 and a large one about 500 wrecks

I never tried to discover everything in Planet Nomads because I know from MMO games that even if the players pay each month a subscription fee, developers cannot add content as fast as we consume it.

The wrecks are useful as a source of materials when playing in a certain survival style. I feel like starting another such journey now
Maybe I will continue on that strange world I posted at KQ7's request.
    https://forum.planet-nomads.com/thre...-strange-world
But that world is huge. It has possibly 1800 wrecks.
And is strange. The wreck near my landing pod was under the surface, I had to dig it out carefully, not to let it fall to the planet core.
