    Forum software update

As we noticed some security holes in forum software, we've updated it to the new version.

I hope everything works as before. If not, write here or send me PM/e-mail.

Found an annoying bug when starting a new thread to report a game related issue.
Logged in, started writing a new thread but got called away after only finishing the thread title.
Came back 6 hours later edited the title and typed the body of the thread which took me about an hour as I went into lots of detail.
Clicked on "Preview" and was prompted to enter username and password again. Did so and was redirected to a completely blank page which had the same link as my thread window but "&q=12" tagged on to the end if I remember correctly. Waited but nothing happened. Refreshed but same blank page. Went back and was redirected to same blank page. Clicked back a few times to get to my post but ended up with an empty new thread page. Went forward again but redirected to same blank page as earlier. Went back to empty thread page and noticed a button to "Restore saved data" or something similar. Pressed that but it only restored the title.

End result: all work lost, issue with game not reported. Suggestions for fix not reported. Frustration level high. Likelihood to report in such detail in future, zero.

    You still have security problems.

We have also the problem Bob The Marauder mentioned. While I write some post, I have to open a new tab and refresh it time to time to stay logged in.
I have the feeling the site is logging me out while I write some message, faster than in normal idle case when I just browse the forum.

There also appear to be some "bad" accounts being created.
    EmailCustomerSupport and CanonPrinterCustomerCare for instance.

I keep Disagreeing and Reporting them as I find them.

I wouldn't want to talk to any of these [Product]Support if my name were Patel Gupta and I was born and raised in Delhi.

We are using an outdated version of forum software which seems that is no longer updated. These days we are considering upgrade or migration to different forum software solution.

    It's not just that, martinsustek.

As PlanetNomads gains popularity online, these forums will be inundated more and more by spammers. Mostly bots.

Another forum I frequented a while back - the ones for 2K Games - go so bad at one point, that multiple times per day the same spam threads would fill 2, 3, even 4 PAGES worth of each and every subforum on the site, until the (unpaid volunteer) moderators logged in, and then spent hours banning the offending accounts and deleting the spam threads.

And a few hours later, it'd be just as bad again.

In the end, they had to impose such horribly draconian controls, that I lost any interest in being there on a regular basis. :'(

I've managed to integrate reCAPTCHA v2 into the forum and registration process, so I hope bots will be out of the game now.

I have the same issues with connection not private, started earlier this week. It is preventing me from posting from my PC, I have to use my smartphone to do anything here now.
