This point is still the most pressing to me at the moment. PN is a WIP, so it's fine to get things little by little, but with the number of conveyor pipelines I'm building, this would be a life...
I love the floating blocks + water motor idea.
Now, if we get realistic water on top of that, I might start spending a lot more time on water !! :laugh:
I do like the idea, but I think it's a subset of a larger idea that I would summarise this way : exploration needs to be incentivised.

I can confirm some lag on a "medium-size" grid. Connecting a container to the existing conveyor system freezes the game for about 2 seconds. Opening the container's inventory freezes it for 6 or 7...

The hard mode is very easy indeed. I don't know if it's by design or because this area was not deemed the most important to get right in pre-release.
Arguably, tweaking difficulty is not the hardest...
The storage system of the game can be extremely complex to manage and any new addition could add even more complexity. I think 2 rather simple (?) changes could really improve things considerably :

Agreed! I can accept no power at night, obviously, but the panels should track the sun. I don't even care if there's no animation for it, just give me some juice :-)
As a side note : Currently, the power of the multitool makes obtaining water way too easy. Just dig a giant hole, put a water pump, and you're sorted. My suggestion above would make water a bit more...
